Prints (part 2)

For our print making project, I made a giraffe. I added texture to my print my carving out each individual spot on the giraffe. I was able to show depth by adding the clouds and the birds. My favorite print was the green, orange, and yellow print. I was able to use diffrent colors that made the print have a more exotic feel. Overall I feel like this project was a sucess because the print, I feel, looks really good! I made 6 total prints. One was brown on blue, blue on white, blue on yellow, brown on yellow, brown on white, and of course, orange, yellow and green on black. I really enjoyed this project because it was really fun to make the prints and see the final product!

Prints

During this project, texture is so important because it makes the print come to life! Texture adds so much to the print, it makes it look more realistic instead of just a drawing. It was necessary to have several refrences for each animal because if you couldnt see a part of the animal on one picture, you could see it on another. For instance, on one of my pictures you couldnt see the jaw as well as another, so I could look at both pictures to get a really good looking giraffe! When I looked at each of my individual scetches, the giraffe, cow, and monkey, I could see that even though the giraffe was the hardest, it would make the best print. I really like the pattern on the giraffe, it added alot of texture to the print. It was very difficult to carve in between the spots, but it was worth it!

Chalk Mural

Creating this mural was alot of fun! It was a lot harder than I had first expected. Each day we would have to go to the bathroom after just to wash all of the chalk off our faces! It took the whole group to do the background purple. I did the rock and the fire, while Sydney did the dragon and the gold. The other to guys in our group worked to the background...the whole time, we almost ran out of purple! It was very important to work together on this because without the guys we would have never been able to finish the background! We were able to divide and conquer the mural. I think this project was a real success becasue the dragon looks really good, and I have seen other students interacting with the mural as well. I really enjoyed having the whole school interacting with our mural. It was nice to have random people walk up to you while you were creating it and compliment your artwork!
